Understanding diabetes
Diabetes affects over 101 million people in India — the world's highest absolute burden. While conventional medicine manages blood sugar, it rarely addresses the metabolic and lifestyle imbalances that created the condition. Over 90% of Type 2 diabetes cases are driven by preventable factors: chronic stress, poor diet, sedentary living, and sleep disruption that together impair insulin sensitivity and pancreatic function.
At Tratak, we work with both Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetic states using a comprehensive yoga therapy protocol that targets insulin sensitivity, stress hormones, and the endocrine system as a whole. A systematic review of 44 randomised controlled trials found that yoga significantly improves blood glucose levels and glycaemic markers compared to standard care alone — with no major safety concerns.
“A review of 44 randomised controlled trials found that yoga improves blood glucose levels compared to usual care or no intervention, with benefits including decreased BMI and enhanced glycaemic control — without any major safety issues.”
